By Judy Weitzman Are you planning to lose a few pounds for swimsuit season? There are lots of ways you can get de-railed. Here are ten of the most common mistakes we make on the way to our weight loss goals: 1. No Accountability: By reporting the food you track and reporting what you weigh to a friend or professional, you will ensure your success. In my experiences over the years, when clients avoid the scale, they gain weight. While losing weight, you should write down everything you eat daily and weigh-in once a week on a designated day. 2. No patience: Expecting to lose five pounds every week is not realistic, 1-2 lbs per week is the healthiest pace. Fast weight loss almost always comes back the minute you return to your old habits. Hit a plateau and not staying the course can also de-rail your efforts. You didn’t … Read More

However, some folks still have trouble making the time to eat in the morning. Grabbing a cup of coffee is not the same as eating something. If you are stopping at the local coffee shop, the fancy coffee drinks are loaded with calories and can wire you on caffeine and sugar. Then you are tempted by all of the ginormous sweets in their bakery case. Not a good scenario. Grabbing a bagel is not a great idea either. Did you realize that one bagel is equivalent to four slices of toast? OY! Would you rather hit the snooze button a few times than get up and make a good breakfast? If so, you are not alone. I have been staying in my maintenance range of 123 to 127 forever … Then out of nowhere my weight is at 129. OMG OMG OMG!!! So I tried the ‘scale dance’ – you know, where you get on and off the scale at least four or five times to see if the number changes and this time it held steady. No fluke. OY! What to do now? First instinct, I can’t eat. Panic sets in and nerves are aflutter. Get calm and make a plan. But first I need to figure out how the scale jumped up so high so that I know what to fix. I have not been overeating at meals. They have … Read More
